CompRack®
Materials Materials and processes undergo continuous development and fibre composites are no exception. This group of materials was introduced in the 1950’s and have been an established industrial technology since 1970. Today products such as skis, wind generators, boats and a large number of vehicle components in addition to aerospace-industry (just to name a few examples) are manufactured in composite materials due to the superior properties of these materials.

At the beginning of the 90’s, CompRack were introduced to the problems associated with conventional trash racks and it soon became obvious that by introducing new material technology opened for a solution with superior properties. One of the areas to which special attention was paid during development work was ice and particularly frazil ice accumulation. CompRack’s low thermal conductivity combined with its special geometry and surface properties has shown that the risk for ice accumulation is dramatically reduced.

CompRack® material benefits
Corrosion resistant
The material in the CompRack – system is made of glass-fiber composite that is well known for its excellent corrosion resistance properties.
Light weight
CompRack is a lightweight system, which simplifies installation and maintenance. Weight approx. 25-30% of a comparable steel solution.
Environmental friendly
No need for sand-blasting or painting improves the environment.
Same type of material is used in food end beverage contact applications.
Outstanding mech. properties
(Flexural modulus = 47 GPa, Tensile strength = 0,9 GPa according to test SS-EN ISO14125:1998) according to material test made by Sicomp (www.sicomp.se) in Sweden
As the material is linear elastic all the way up to break you get a trash rack that will recover its shape even if it has been temporary deformed locally by unexpected forces. This feature reduces the overall damages and in combination with a fully modular system, it makes it possible to replace individual parts of the trash rack in a very simple way.
Low thermal conductivity
The composite material has a low thermal conductivity, which impoves the reduction of ice problems. |
