CompRack® Quality assurance
Since 1995 CompRack has supplied the hydro power industry with trash-racks in composite materials.
The CompRack® system has proven to be an excellent alternative to steel trash-racks since the first installation in 1995. To remain a reliable supplier, the process from quotation to commissioning is guided by CompRack quality assurance procedures, incorporating ISO 9000 and ISO 14000 quality standards.
Manufacturing
To ensure an even quality and predictable material properties, ISO 9000 and ISO 14000 quality standards controls the profile manufacturing process.

Material tests
The CompRack® profiles have been tested and material properties determined by the Composite institute Sicomp (www.sicomp.se) in Sweden.
To have reliable material properties is allways neccesary to be able to carry out proper FEM-analysises, to predict the profile behaviour under various conditions. This in combination with the internal CompRack experience of composite materials ensure a reliable and high quality product.

- Dimensioning All CompRack installations are dimensioned to customer specifications, normally fully blocked with a specified maximum water level. This method of dimensioning results in a robust design that is capable of operating for many, many years.
- FEM-analysis ensure quality
By using state of the art FEM-analyse system, accurate dimensioning is guaranteed. This computation covers tensile strength, buckling and structural resonance. We are capable of quickly and accurately analysing alternative solutions to find the most suitable solution for the intake in question.
- Stress and strain analysis
The analysis check that stress and strain are within limits when design loads are applied to the profile.

- Buckling analysis
Buckling analysis results shows profile shape when buckling appear.

- Natural frequency analysis
The profile has been optimized to get a minimum of obstruction of the flow, which results in a low energy Karman-vortex shedding. However all CompRack solutions have to pass through a FEM-analysis were the natural frequency of the trash rack is calculated, to ensure that no harmful vibrations will appear due to structural resonance. The natural frequency modes 1-3 shown in pictures, are compared to the emitted Karman vortex shedding frequency.
Example of natural frequency analysis results.
